雨降りなので、お客さんが少なくて見やすいかな、と狙って仕事終わってからいそいそと。
宮崎監督の飛行機好きは有名です。彼の飛行機好きが詰まった映画、『紅の豚』は大好きです。
ただ、スタジオ・ジブリの作品は『ハウルの動く城』以降、全く観ていませんでした。
正直言って、観たいなぁと思う作品がなかった。
こんなことを書いたら批判をいただくのは覚悟ですが、『崖の上のポニョ』が発表されたとき、ポスターを見て『なんだかなぁ・・・』と思ってしまったのです。前にもうやったことというか・・・。
もちろん、アニメーションとしては素晴らしいなという感じはしたのですが、物語とかは興味が持てなかった・・・。
宮崎さんの、あの疾走感溢れるオリジナルの作品はもう観れないのかな、なんて寂しく思っていました。
そこに来て、今回の『風立ちぬ』。
公開が発表されたときにビビッときました。久しぶりに『観たい‼』と思いました。
だって、宮崎さんの飛行機映画。しかもファンタジーではない。
愛情を感じました。
さらっと感想を書きます・・・。
心に残るシーンは山ほどあって、とてもここにはその感想を書ききれないので、やめておきます。
以下、映画全体に関しての感想。完璧なる私見なので、あしからず。

時代に飲み込まれてしまう天才の、美しい夢。
切なかったです。
主人公二郎が、せめてあと十年遅く生まれていれば、悲しみや代償や葛藤もなく、夢を形にしていたのかもしれない。でも、そうなったならば全てがまた同じではないし・・・。
あの時代を必死に生きた二郎を見て、少なくとも時代によって夢を打ち砕かれることはほとんどない私たちは、もっと日々を大切に生きるべきなんだって思いました。
二郎と、本庄との友情もよかったです。ああいう、男同士の信頼関係っていいですよね。
二郎の、懸命に夢を追う瞳が印象に残ります。
あの時代の、日本人の丁寧な言葉使い、しぐさ。助け合うことが当然だという精神。小さな子供でさえどんなに貧しくても誇りを持った生き方をしている。
ヒロイン菜穂子の気高さとか、やさしさとか、美しい日本がそこに息づいていました。
観ていて、隅々まで気持ちのいい作品でした。
芸術性も、とてつもなく高い。
少ない台詞や、登場人物たちの所作の端々に、溢れんばかりの気持ちが表れていました。
もう一つ、久しぶりにアニメーション映画を劇場で鑑賞して、驚いたのはその技術の向上でした。
私はアニメーションを専門的に勉強したわけではないので、感じたままに意見を言いますが、背景と動画の馴染み具合(ふつうは背景と動画って浮いて見えるんですが)や、フォーカスの滑らかな移動。光や温度、湿度の表現もとても高い。夏の暑さ、陽炎の立つ足元だけ歪んだ景色、木陰の涼しく湿った土のひんやりした感じ、など、こんなにも絵で表現できるなんて、と感動しました。
特に音響効果は素晴らしかった。エンジン音、爆発音、地響き、様々な風の音、マッチを擦る音も、紙マッチと箱のマッチで違ったり、クレソンのサラダを噛む音とか、とにかく音が印象的でした。
作品中の喫煙について色々と言っていた人たちがいたと、何かで聞きましたが、まったくナンセンスな意見だと思います。
あの時代を描けば当然の結果。
きちんとしたコンセプトのある作品であれば、メッセージを間違って受け止める人はいないと、私は思います。
この映画を観て、日本に、日本人に生まれて、本当によかったって思いました。
この作品を観れる時代に生まれたこと、大人になってからこの作品を観れたこと、すべてが嬉しかったです。
素晴らしい作品でした。
上映終了前に、もう一度は、映画館に足を運ぼうと思っています。

高畑勲監督の新作予告篇を観ました。
短い映像でしたが、頭のてっぺんから鳥肌が立ち、息をのんで、涙が出ました。
これは、必ず観たい。
高畑監督は、いつもアニメーション表現者として実験し、挑戦しつづけている。
私は高畑監督、大好きです。
素敵な秋になる予感、です。

| スタジオジブリ作品 『風立ぬ』 Studio GHIBLI The Wind Rises |
I went to see Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises / Le vent se lève) directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
It was raining so I thought it'll be less audience. I hurried to the theatre after work.
Miyazaki is famous as an airplane maniac. I love his film Porco Rosso which has full of his partiality for airplane.
However, I haven't seen any of Studio GHIBLI films since Hawl's Moving Castle.
To be honest, none of the films made me feel like watching.
I know I'll be blamed by millions of people by writing this, but when Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea came out, I didn't feel like watching it at all. "It's been done before" was my honest reaction.
As an animation film, of course, I thought it'll be brilliant, but I wasn't attracted by the story.
I felt sad to think that I won't be able to see Miyazaki's unique works which were like making a sprint ever again.
And then, he came back with Kaze Tachinu.
As soon as the release was announced, I felt it in my bones that I want to see it!
Because it's Miyazaki's airplane movie and it's not a fantasy story.
I felt his love towards this film.
I'll write about what I felt after the film very briefly.
There are too many scenes captured my heart to write about. So I won't write about them here.
Belows are my opinion about the film. It's my own personal opinion, so I hope you will not take it amiss.

A beautiful dream of a genius which was swallowed in the times.
It was painful.
If Jiro, a leading character, was born late for another ten years, he might be able to make his dream come true without paying any price, any sorrow or struggle. But then again, if so, everything wouldn't be the same...
Watching Jiro who lived through the tough timesas hard as he could, I thought that we should live each day more as we are living in the times which won't destroy our dreams.. at least most of ours won't.
I liked the friendship between Jiro and his friend Honjo. Don't you like men's relationship of mutual trust?
Jiro's eager eyes chasing his dream are still in my mind.
Japanese people at that time had very gentle and beautiful ways of talking and gestures to each other. The spirit of mutual help was a common sense. Even a tiny children lived with their prides.
I could find beautiful Japan in a dignified and tender heroine, Naoko.
This movie made me feel very good from head to foot.
The art works is tremendously high quality.
In characters' brief lines and subtle gestures, there are full of their unexpressed feelings.
Another thing to write about is that I was surprised at the improvement of animation techniques since I haven't watched any animation films in the theatre for a long time.
I didn't study animation, so I'm writing about how I felt, but I was impressed by how smoothly the background and the animated graphics were put together (most of the time, the graphics don't blend into the background so well), and how beautifully the focus shifts from here to there. Excellent quality of the art of light, temperature, and humidity. I was moved by that human hands can express something like the heat of the summer, the scenery visually distorted at its bottom by heat waves, cool and moist earth in the shade of the trees.
I especially impressed by the sound effect. For example, the sound of the engines, blasts, rumbling of the ground, different types of the winds. Even the sounds of striking matches were different between matchbook's one and a match-box's one. And the sound of chewing watercress salad! The sounds effect was very impressive to me.
I heard there are some foolish people who were making criticism about too many smoking scenes in the film. I think they are talking nonsense.
It's historically correct.
No one will take it as a bad influence when the art has a proper concept. At least, I believe so.
I'm truly glad that I was born as a Japanese in Japan.
I'm glad about everything such as I'm here to be able to see this film and also I've grown-up enough to enjoy the film.
It's a master piece.
I want to go to the theatre to see at least one more time before its showing ends.

I saw a teaser of Isao Takahata's newest film.
It was a very short one, but I had goose bumps from head to toe, I took my breath, and couldn't help crying.
I definitely want to see it.
Director Takahata has always been experimenting new methods and he's challenging to the future of animation as an artist.
I love him very much.
This autumn is going to be very special. I'm feeling so.
