my favorite silver accessories

chai and homemade breads

IOSSELLIANI ring and pendant

Serge rings of mine

Since my Pilates lesson studio is luckly close to my favourite chai café, I often go there.
There are various chai places, but for me the best chai belongs to this one though I’ve never been to the home of chai.

So, today I’m writing about chai? No, I’m afraid. I’m going to write about my favourite accessories.
As I wrote a bit about Serge Thoraval rings before. I like something simple, but cannot be ignored.

my first IOSSELLIANI

IOSSELIANI is an Italian jewellery brand.
There must be lords of fans of this brand in Japan. Most of their designs are simple but sophisticated and strong. Manipulations of the materials are clever. One of their characteristic rings is multiplex rings such as quintuplex, septuplex, and octuplex rings, and they are signature rings as IOSSELLIANI’s Classic Collections. Their jewelleries look heavy, but delicate. It seems like that the shades created from layering items deepen the stories behind the jewelleries.
The first jewellery I bought with my first salary was a pair of IOSSELLIANI earrings. They were silver in square shape. Each of their centres is cut out in square and has steel-mesh windows. They are not decorative at all, but I liked free-hand-drawn like square shape and silver which seemed to me that they are going to be parts of me as I wear them for years. I still remember how excited I was when I was paying for them.
IOSSELLIANI’s recent collections are using minerals such as malachite, jasper, turquoise and agate. They are so exotic that you feel like wearing flowers and fruits from Southern countries.
However, what I met this time were the black jewelleries.

can you see the green?

One was a pendant with a charm of the snake biting on a black fruit with its sharp fangs. It reminded me of the Serpent which instigated Adam and Eve, but in Italy, a snake is a lucky charm. - we also think a snake is a symbol of life as its skin shading habit reminds us of death and revival in Japan. There are worships of snake all over the world as you know. The black stone mysteriously changes its colour to green from different angles and in different light. I have many necklaces which lengths are just under my collarbone. So I've been looking for one can long enough to layer with my other necklaces. I liked the thickness of the chain of this one too.
Another item was a ring which is using the same black stone with the pendant. I had bought coloured stone rings many years ago, but eventually I felt that they were too loud for me, so I stopped wearing them. This one has a silver decoration; I thought it can fit well with my other silver rings.
I want to wear them and look after them so as to be given energy.

unknown sides of myself

I wrote about how unexpectedly I was involved in the shoot for MODE OPTIQUE magazine vol.34 the other day. The camera guy Mr. Ogasawara kindly sent me copies of unused cuts and I was impressed by the beauty if the photoes.
Professionals can produce such a great atmosphere.
The photoes told me different looks of myself and I found them interesting.
And again, Theo Eyewear's glasses are fabulous...

random notes

have a break!

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, London Olympic & Paralympic 2012.... apparently UK is hot this year.
I see lots of magazines and TV programs featuring UK info & culture recently.

I've just finished catching up with BBC SHERLOCK season 2 on DVD.
I couldn't wait till it's coming out on Japanese TV, so I bought a DVD set on amazon.com.
For the people who haven't watched any of this TV drama series, I won't give out, but Wooow! I loved the 2nd series so much. I can't wait for the season 3.

I've been taking Pilates lessons once a week since last month. It's one of my wanted-to-do things.
My body is not so pliant, for example, I can't sit with my legs opened 180° astride, but I'm enjoying learning new exercises.

Today, my evening work was unexpectedly cancelled because of the tropical cyclone.
I had been feeling tired since last night so this morning after I did some chores, I practised Pilates and studied anatomy a bit, but eventually I collapsed on a floor and slept without eating lunch.
Early afternoon, I was woken by a text alert saying my night work had been cancelled.
Lucky me, I really needed a day off so I slept a bit more and then I got up and had a pot of tea.
Working hard is good, but you need to rest for a while every now and then.

Artistic Eyewear

雑誌 MODE OPTIQUE(モード・オプティーク) 34号が届いたのです。

As I've been writing, I had many very fun experience during my short trip in Tokyo.
One of the fascinating events' result came in my post the other day.
A copy of MODE OPITIQUE vol.34 was arrived.

It was the first time for me to read a magazine all about spectacles.
I was surprised how beautiful and interesting they were. I kept finding my favourite ones page after page.
And of course I enjoyed looking at the page of Theo Eyewear.
It was a strange feeling to see myself on printed pages and feel other people's points of view.
There were me, wearing very stylish glasses and looking at a viewfinder.

What a joy to share someone's creativity. It was so amazing to be a part if it.
Surprisingly I was very relaxed in front of the people I've never met before. It's because they were very kind to me I guess. Thank you again, Kurt, Mr.Ogasawara, and Ms. Funayama.
Oh, one more thing. I was surprised at the price of the glasses I was wearing(!)

Tokyo - Part 3

Theo Eyewear

Final day in Tokyo.

I woke up and did stretching for a long time.
I packed my suitcase and checked out my room. I left my luggage at the hotel and then I went for a walk around Hanzomon.
Cherry trees were still blooming beautifully.

I went to Ganges, an Indian restaurant where I had tea on the first day, for early luch.
I ordered vegetable curry, saffron rice, and chai.
I was hoping that saffron and turmeric would help healing my abused stomach by drinks from yesterday.
Spices made me warm and chai was mild and tasteful.

After the delicious lunch, I headed to the Puppet House in Iidabashi, where Sota’s exhibition was holding.
On that day, Sota was going to have a talk at the gallery so I went a bit earlier. I was expecting to see him before too many people came to him.
At the Puppet House, there was a cute sign. I found Sota’s puppets on its window.
Sota was out for lunch, so I had a chat with an owner of the gallery, but soon Sota came back.
I thanked him for yesterday and looked around at the exhibition freely.
All the marionettes with sets were having lots of stories behind, and they seemed like they were breathing quietly, but surely.
There were photographs of the marionettes by Czech photographer, and that made the exhibition even more interesting even thought the space wasn’t so huge.
My favourites were a Japanese blue ogle, a skeleton tightrope performer with a crimson top hat, and a skeleton gambler. (Yes, I know! but I love them, what can I do?)

While we were talking about this and that, more people came and the gallery was packed by the time of the talk show. When Sota manipulated his puppets, everyone was taken his/hers breath away and was leaded into a story. I re-discovered the magic of storytelling.
There were so many fans of Sota (I heard there was a fan who named her son after Sota!), and I was so moved that I was taught by such a great master. I will keep working harder.
Thank you so much Sota!!

After I said good-bye to Sota, I was hanging about in Omotesando, looking for a birthday present for my friend.
People were everywhere. I was in one of the most fashionable areas of the city.
I saw a Western-looking man carrying huge black cases on wheels, and thought Tokyo is fun and reminded me of buzz of London. Then I was suddenly stopped by a woman with a flip board on her hand. I thought she was one of those salespersons, but actually she was a writer and a member of a shooting team of eyewear brand Theo.
With her, there was the man with the black cases too...
Oh my, I would be tricked by those salespeople at the corner of an unfamiliar city!- I couldn’t help but putting up my guard.
However, they were very polite (in a good way) and looked like I can trust them, I had time, and it sounded fun, so I decided to take part in the shooting.
You ladies must not follow the back of the strangers. Please don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Later on I did a research and Theo was a very famous brand of Antwerp. I recently started wearing glasses, so I was still novice at eyewear brands.

At the corner of the busy street, “Mr. Black Case” introduced himself to me in a fluent Japanese. He said he was a Belgian. When he slowly opened the cases, there appeared thousands of glasses.
Each of them was very thin frames and artistically coloured.
He was putting on those glasses one by one on me and naturally noticed that my hair was partly shaven. So I put up my hair and showed to him how it looked, and he liked the style. Then he chose several glasses.
Ones he picked up were having the shapes and colours that I wouldn’t choose for myself. So it was interesting to see how people see me.
As the writer lady said, I had a quiet, ladylike impression, but I wore punkish outfits and my hair was shaven. So it’s sort of ambivalent. And also I didn’t look like I’m from Osaka!  Yes, I am chaotic.
Red, light blue, purple, and fresh green.... there was no mirror so I couldn’t check how I looked like with those artistic frames, but I trusted him as a specialist of the eyewear. I posed as he wished.
Camera guy was Japanese and he kept talking to me softly to make me relaxed. As I was always the one behind the camera, it was the first time to be photographed by a professional. Camera lens was coming forward to me, and I had to read the air to figure out what kind of pictures they want to create. Boy, models and actors must be a tricky job. As I liked to dance to music, I enjoyed the shooting very much.
I’m looking forward to seeing the finished photos.
Thank you Ms. Funayama, Kurt, and Mr. Ogasawara!

After I said good-bye and thank you to the wonderful three, I took a break at a café.
It was in a quieter place so I thought I could relax for a bit, and I was right.
Their gâteau chocolat was scrumptious.
I had an early lunch and I’d been walking around since then, I was tired and sugar helped me a lot.

After that, I managed to find a birthday present and I went back to Hanzomon.
I’d been thinking about what to eat for the last dinner, and I went to Ganges again as I didn’t want to regret.
I thought it might be too much, but I ordered vegetarian dinner thali.
They kindly changed one of the pea curries into my favourite dal curry. I was so happy. Naan was hot and had crispy and soft chewy texture, and slightly sweet, and smelled gorgeous. But it was too large!
I had more than enough and carried my big stomach to the hotel to pick up my luggage. I headed to Shinjuku where the night bus station was.

Night view of Tokyo was pretty but a bit sad-ish.
I had some time before my departing, but time flew while I was writing post cards to my friends.
I was planning to buy souvenirs at Tokyo’s interchange, but the bus stopped only for about ten minutes or so. Finally I bought sweets of Shiga which was using Kyoto’s green tea at Western area u interchange.
What the heaven?

When I came home, crocuses were showing their golden faces in the front yard.
Now, clematises and jasmines are having their best time.
Since after Tokyo trip, I’ve been busy working, but it’s getting a bit more controllable now.

I thought, when you keep wishing, chances like you can see something you want or meet someone you want, are coming to you.
I say wishing as not just thinking about it, but painting a clear vision in your mind and taking actions or making efforts to it.
I’m one of those who doesn’t like to compromise. Even if I thought it was fine, that's not enough for me to do something about it. But when it matched with my ideal figure for 100%, I go straight forward to it like a bullet.
As a matter of fact, it’s so rare to find something you really wanted.
So when you find something truly excites you, I say go for it without thinking.
Training and blushing up intuition is the best way to make your wish comes true. I think so, at least.
