SHERLOCK

やっとSHERLOCK (邦題：『シャーロック』)のファースト・シリーズ(ハイ・クオリティの3話構成)を見終えました。
これはBBC制作のテレビドラマで本国イギリスでは2010年に放送されています。
タイトルからわかるように、物語はサー・アーサー・コナン・ドイルの『シャーロック・ホームズ』の現代版です。

私の母はシャーロキアン(熱狂的なシャーロック・ファン)であり、彼女の信じるホームズを演じた歴代(かつ今後においても)最高の役者はジェレミー・ブレットであり、私も母も彼が双極性障害で苦しんだ事に対しては悲しく思っています。

私はこのドラマ・シリーズを母がどう思うだろうかと思っていましたが、大変お気に召したようです。

余談ついでですが、私と母は『マイ・フェア・レディ』でジェレミー・ブレットが「君住む街角」を歌うシーンは60年代の映画の中で最も美しいという点で同意しています。
また、私たちは最近作られた新しいシャーロック・ホームズの映画シリーズのキャスティング(好きな俳優さんたちではあるのですが)と、脚色に関しては失敗だという点でも同意見です。

ホームズはファイターですが、マッチョ野郎ではないのです。
彼は暗い自室で実験をしたり、本を読んだり、阿片を吸ったりしているような、ボヘミアン的精神を持つ人です。

ベネディクト・カムバーバッチ演じるホームズはとっても魅力的です。
謎に包まれた殺人事件が起きて大興奮している姿などは特に。
難事件を前に、にやりと一人ほくそ笑む姿はキュートでもあります。

2012年前半に放送予定のシリーズ2作目が待ち遠しいです。

Just finished watching the first series (only 3 episodes with good quality) of SHERLOCK.
It is a TV drama series by BBC which was on aired in 2010.
As you can see from the title, the story is a contemporary adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's works Sherlock Holmes .

My mother, who is a Sherlockian, believes the best casting for the role Sherlock Holmes (for)ever is Jeremy Brett and we are so sorry about how he struggled with his bipolar disorder.
I was wondering if she likes this new series or not, but she liked it very much.

Incidentally, my mother and I are both agreeing on that Jeremy Brett in My Fair Lady, singing On the Street Where You Live is one of the most beautiful performances in 60' movies.
And we are also agreeing on the casting and interpretation of the recently made new Sherlock Holmes film series is a failure even though we personally like both of the actors who play Holmes and Watson.
Sherlock Holmes is a fighter, but not a macho.
He is sort of a Bohemian who always experimenting, reading, or smoking opium in his dim room.

I think Benedict Cumberbatch's Holmes is very charming especially when he gets excited about the mysterious murder case.
It is cute when he secretly grins for it.
I can't wait for the second series which is due to come up in early 2012 in UK.

Typhoon

台風がやってくれば、秋はもうすぐそこです。

お茶の時間にカフェ・オ・レを丁寧に淹れて、ちょっと塩気のあるビスケットを用意しました。

晴れの日は好きですが、雨の日や曇りの日は創作意欲が湧きます。

昼間よりも夜や薄暗い朝の方が頭が冴えます。

雷の轟き、桃色の月、夕暮れ前の空の瑠璃色、障子に染み入る墨色の闇。

自然の見せてくれる美は、はかり知れません。

追記：9月8日
和歌山における台風の被害は相当なものです。
一刻も早い復興に、私も何らかの形で協力しようと思います。

Once typhoon comes, autumn is just around the corner.

I made a good mug of café au lait and prepared slightly salted biscuits for tea.

I like sunny day, but I feel more creative on a rainy day or a cloudy day.

My head is clearer in the night or dimly dark dawn than daytime.

Rumble of a thunder, strawberry moon, lapis lazuli sky before dusk, and Chinese-ink-darkness seeps into syoji papers.

The beauty of the nature is unfathomable.

Additional Note: 8th of September

Wakayama (Osaka's neighbourhood) is suffering heavy damage from this typhoon.

I want to do something to help their soonest restoration.

rain and sweets

9月に入った途端に、台風が早足で近づいてきました。
たまに休みが取れたと思ったらこの雨ですが・・・。
激しい雨の中、机に向かい、コール・ポーターのCDなんかを聴きながら珈琲を片手に黙々と自分のやりたい作業に没頭するのは、なかなか良いものです。

雨の日はお菓子を焼きたくなります。
雨の日は昼間なのに室内が暗くて、台所だけ灯りがぽっと灯っているのが、何だか好きなんです。
使い古したレシピのノートをめくりながら、何を作ろうかと考える時間もまた好きです。

先日、札幌のA'zor(アゾル)さんというドーナツ屋さんのドーナツに出会いました。
札幌に出かけたわけではなく、たまたまA'zorさんが大阪に出店をしていたからなのですが、このドーナツがとっても美味しくて、びっくりしました。
どっしりとして、やさしい味で、私はシナモンのドーナツが一番気に入りました。
普段はドーナツを食べることはあまりないので、久しぶりに美味しいドーナツを食べられて嬉しかったです。
また大阪に出店している際には是非、シナモン・ドーナツを買いに行きたいです。

こんなことを書いていたら、またシナモンの味が恋しくなってきてしまいました。
A'zorさんは遥か彼方の札幌ですから、何か代わりになるものを探すことにします。


札幌A'zor

As soon as September has started, Typhoon began to come up to us at a quick pace.
Loos like my rare day-off is disturbed by this rain, but it’s not too bad sitting at my desk, listening to Cole Porter CDs and devoting myself to my own things over cups of coffee in this heavy rain.

Rainy days make me want to bake sweets.

I like when rooms get dark during the daytime and the kitchen is the only place warmly lit on a rainy day.
I like the time when I’m flicking through my old recipe book and thinking about what to bake.

The other day, I met doughnuts of A’zor in Sapporo (Hokkaido, Japan).

Not that I went to Sapporo, it was A’zor having a stall in Osaka. I was surprised how delicious their doughnuts were.
They had filling and soft taste. I loved a cinnamon doughnut the best.
I don’t eat doughnuts so often, so I was happy to have such good doughnuts.
I’d like to get some again whenever A’zor comes back to Osaka.

Writing about something like this, I’m missing the cinnamon flavour already.

A’zor is far away in Sapporo, I will try find a substitution.

Happy Cards

先日兄より、モロッコ旅行の際に訪れたマジョレル・ガーデンからの葉書が届きました。
マジョレル・ガーデンとはモロッコはマラケシュにある植物園で、画家のモジョレルが1924年に作り、後の1980年代なってイブ・サンローランとピエール・ベルジュによって修復、買い取られたそうです。（現在、サンローランの遺骨はこの庭に眠ります。）
私はこの植物園の存在を知りませんでしたが、写真を調べて見てみると、コバルト・ブルーが涼しげな印象で、訪れて見たい場所のひとつとなりました。

兄は私がイブ・サンローランを好きなのを知っていたのか、それともただの偶然なのか、サンローランが毎年大切な人たちに送っていたという手作りのカードを複製したポストカードの中から、私の生まれた年のものを選んでくれていました。
サン・ローランがカードのテーマにしていたLOVE（愛）の文字がかわいい、鳥のカップルの絵柄でした。

昨日は、先月一緒にお仕事をしたダンサーさんたちから、お礼のカードと写真が届きました。
カードはカラフルなペロペロキャンディーの形になっていて、全部で6本のキャンディーがリボンで束ねてありました。キャンディー形のカードの裏にはそれぞれのダンサーさんからのメッセージが。
こんなかわいらしいカードを見たことなかったのと、みんなの心遣いに感激し、元気がでました。

私自身も、手作りの暑中見舞いを友達に送ったばかりですが、やはり手書きのカードや手紙というものはE-mailとは違う嬉しさがあります。
これからも筆まめでありたいと思います。

ペロペロキャンディーのカードとイヴ・サンローランのポストカード

I’ve received a postcard which my brother sent me from the Mojorelle Garden in Morocco the other day.

The Mojorelle Garden is a botanical garden in Marrakech, Morroco. It was designed by French painter Jacques Mojorelle in 1924 and it has been owned by Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé since 1980. (Now Saint-Laurent's ashes are resting in this garden.)

I’ve never known about this garden, but when I checked the photos of the garden, it gave me a cool impression of cobalt blue and then it became one of the places I’d like to visit.

Whether my brother knew that I like Yves Saint-Laurent or mare a coincidence, the card had a reproduced design of Saint-Laurent’s hand-drawn cards he used to send to his loved ones every year. My brother chose the design of the year I born.

It had a pretty hand-written word LOVE which was the theme of the card and the bird couple.

Yesterday, I’ve got a thank-you card and photos from the dancers I made the costumes for their performance last month.

The card was a shape of colourful lollipops and there were 6 lollipops bundled together with a bow. On the back of the lollipops, there were messages from each dancer.

I was cheered up by them because I’ve never seen such cute cards and also I was so moved by their consideration.

I myself also had sent summer greetings to my friends. I realised again that the hand written cards and letters have something special compare to E-mails.

I’d like to keep being a good correspondent.

夏らしく、暑い日が続きますが、皆さまお元気でしょうか。
私は夏は苦手です。
夏の楽しみは夕涼み、西瓜や桃、木陰での読書です。
でも、暑中見舞い用の絵を描いていたら、海に行きたくなってきました。

Summer has been doing its job well. How's everyone doing in this hot weather?
Summer is a hard season for me.
Few of my favorite things in summer are cool evening breeze, summer fruits such as water melon and Japanese peach, and reading under the shade of the tree.
But when I was making a card for seasons greetings (as we have the custom to send greeting cards or letters in summer in Japan), I felt like going for swim.
