From the northern province of Japan

私は今、北海道にいます。
ここには素晴らしい人たちや体験があります。
自分から行動しなければ、出会えなかったことばかりです。


夜明け前、牛たちを起こしてお乳を搾ります。
おとなしい子もいれば、暴れん坊もいて、牛といっても様々です。
お乳を搾っていると、熱い牛の体に触っている私も体が暖かくなって、牛をなぜているだけで自然と私が笑顔になっているのです。
午後からの仕事も、肩や首が痛くても、牛たちと触れ合い始めたらもう夢中になっています。
生き物相手の仕事は、気が抜けません。こちらの気配を牛は察するので、不安や恐怖を少しでも見せたら、牛は私を信頼できなくなって、好き勝手に行動してしまいます。穏やかに、自信のある心持でいると、牛はおとなしくいうことを聞いてくれます。生きることとは、響きあうことなのだと、一日の仕事を終えて見上げる満点の星空に思います。

Here I met wonderful people and I experience wonders.
I've never had those things if I didn't act by myself.


Before dawn, I wake cows up and milk them.
There are calm ones, naughty ones, all different.
As I'm milking cows, I get hot by touching their hot bodies, I naturally smile.
When the afternoon work starts, even though my shoulders and neck are hurting, as soon as I touch the cows I forget everything and concentrate on milking.
I can't be careless when I'm dealing with animals. The cows sense my feeling. If I show my worry or fear to them even a little bit, they don't trust me and do whatever they want. As long as I stay calm and be confident, they obey me well.
To live is to correspond, thus I think as I look up the starry sky at the end of the day.
